Active STEP (Simulation,
Test,
Exam,
Practice) application is
a complete CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction) education program.
Simulation, students learn from mistakes that would normally be costly. A good
example is a simulation for a student doctor or nurse who is charged with the
care of a seriously ill patient. Depending on their actions and choices to given
events affect the outcome of the simulation. Simulated patients can die in
different ways and teach the student valuable lessons.
Testing can be inserted into simulations for a graded evaluation to the
student’s progress or as standalone tests for measuring a student’s knowledge.
Exams are compiled at run time to give each student a unique exam based on a
database of tests on the same subject matter. Perfect for large groups of
students to help prevent cheating. Exams can have time limits and are password
protected.
To help in the learning process, Practice groups are perfect for online learning
with little or no intervention from instructors. A Practice group is a
combination of any number of Simulations, Tests, and Exams along with the
necessary text to answer all questions. A complete course can be included in a
single Practice, perfect for home schooling or for instructors who are spread
too thin for the number of assigned students.
